ACB ANNOUNCES ALLIANCE WITH NACD TO EXPAND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMMUNITY BANK DIRECTORS
WASHINGTON, D.C. — America’s Community Bankers announced a program today that
will provide expanded educational opportunities for directors of community banks
through a partnership with the National Association of Corporate Directors.
ACB members will have exclusive, value-added access on a discounted basis to
NACD educational products and services, and membership in the NACD.
NACD will offer ACB member-only certification of attendance at ACB corporate
governance forums, custom-designed sessions at ACB-member locations and
public workshops.
ACB members will also be entitled to NACD Blue Ribbon Commission Reports;
the opportunity to participate in an ACB-member task force on corporate governance
staffed jointly by ACB and NACD; unlimited access to NACD’s corporate governance
hotline, ExpresSource; access to NACD speakers, resources, information and
guidance on corporate governance issues and practices; and discounts on non-NACD
member fees on meetings and publications and on NACD membership.
“ACB has always been a leader in banker education,” said Diane M. Casey,
ACB president and CEO. “Our partnership with NACD will address a vital member
need for additional director education and corporate governance resources,”
she said. “In light of recent events in corporate America, it is all the more urgent
that we give directors the tools to carry out their critical responsibilities.”
Roger Raber, NACD president and CEO, said, “NACD has been providing publications,
education programs and guidance for CEOs and directors on board issues and best
practices for the last 25 years. ACB’s commitment to board education has been evident
from its long history of programming in this area. The ACB-NACD relationship will
provide ACB members with a comprehensive array of services on every aspect of
corporate governance, including a strong orientation and experience base with the
community banking industry.”
The first in a series of ACB-NACD workshops will be held May 22-23 in
Indianapolis. Topics will include: “Director Professionalism for the Community Bank
Board” and “Getting Behind the Numbers.” Special discounts are offered for multiple
enrollments.
